I took a long overdue trip up here to Birmingham last Friday.  The timing worked out perfectly since Debby was about to rear her ugly head in the gulf, and what was supposed to be a long weekend trip, has turned into a week-long stay.   And I must say, it's been a quite productive trip so far.  I'm excited to share with you guys what I've been up to since I've been here but until then, I thought I'd show you one of my scores on a recent shopping excursion. I've been looking for a milk bottle carrier for a long time now.  I've been searching on Etsy, Ebay, decor sites, etc. to no avail.  I could never find what I was looking for...until Saturday!  Me and my friend Bekah stopped into a consignment/antique store to check out some furniture and while purusing the booths, I stumbled upon this guy. The last time I went to visit my sister, she told me that her boss and his wife were selling their home there and that I would love it! Of course I have no plans to move to her city, but I figured a little look at this home wouldn't hurt, especially if it was "right up my alley" like she said. Well friends, I have to say she was right on the money! I found the home on Trulia and was immediately smitten. If only this gem could be transported to Pensacola... A girl can dream. Let's take a look inside this beautiful 1940's home. It's 3,400 sq. ft. and full of amazing antiques and details. Meredith, my sister, said the wife was responsible for all of the decorating, and I think she did a wonderful job. The striped ceiling, chandelier, built-in arched bookcase and furnishings in the living room as just gorgeous. The first dining room has more paint details with stenciled walls. Aside from our new ottoman, we also have another new piece of furniture in our living room.  I found this dresser on Craigslist and stalked it for a couple of weeks.  At first, the seller wanted $150 for it, and then it was re-listed about a week later for $120.  I saw it disappear after that and thought for sure I'd missed out.  But much to my excitement, it reappeared a few days later at an even lower price of $100!  For an oak antique dresser circa (1890-1910) in great condition, I knew that was a steal! I immediately contacted the seller and set up a time to pick it up.  After a little maneuvering, the seller and I managed to get it into my tiny two-door car and secured the trunk with some string to keep the hatchback down.   I'm sure I was a sight to see on my drive home.  Luckily, the trip didn't require me to get on any major highways, and my new baby and I made it home all in one piece.  And I have to say, it was all so worth it. ...

I'm pleased to show you some progress photos from the nursery  that I shared with you the other day.  The paint is up on the walls, the bed is in and the curtains are hung!  I'm in love with the sweet, softness of the whole space.  The Benjamin Moore-Silver Chain colored walls are just perfect. You can see a little bit of what the previous color of the room was in this photo.  Such a subtle change that makes a big difference.  I also wanted to show you this adorable goose that my clients found at an antique shop in Dallas.  Isn't it cute? And last but not least, some more of the items for the room have arrived!  My clients said "it's like Christmas morning around here!" :)  I love excitement that comes with transforming spaces.  It never gets old!

Me and my mom are heading down to visit my sister this weekend and help her get the nursery organized and put together.  Jon will be heading down with us as well, but he and the boys will be heading to a football game while we play design :)  With the exception of her Little Castle glider, Meredith has just about everything she needs to put the finishing touches on Cohen's nursery.  The glider should arrive sometime in the next two weeks, but until then, we'll try to knock out everything else.  I'm exciting to see it all in person and help her get just the right look for baby Cohen's room. Since we're heading out of town, I decided to look up the Craigslist ads in Mer's area just for fun last night to see what they had to offer.  Much to my surprise, I saw two wonderful finds. As previously mentioned, Jon and I had our first visitor come stay with us this past weekend. My mom flew in Thursday night and stayed with us until yesterday afternoon. It was a wonderful visit! I only wish it could have lasted a little longer. We enjoyed our time together though and gave her a "tour" of our town. One of the stops included a place that I had been wanting to check out, Emporium Antiques. My mom and I toured the huge store for over an hour and stumbled upon so many interesting finds. However, believe it or not, I was able to escape without buying anything. But I did take a few pictures of some of the things that made me look twice. This retro miniature Radio Flyer wagon was only $5.00. If I had a little boy on the way, I would definitely have snatched this up. It would look great on the shelf in beautiful, modern nursery like these. My other find was this chair. The padding was in great condition and the price tag... $89.00! I actually like the ...
