Dress Up

Trying to pack and plan outfits for my trip to Charleston...even at this age, I still love playing dress up. :) I hope you guys enjoyed yesterday's post on the inside view of our wedding .  The hubby and I had a great anniversary yesterday.  We even tried out a new restaurant near our place that was such a nice surprise!  It just may be our new favorite!

Our Wedding Day-The Good, The Bad, The Details

It's time to celebrate another year with my man!  Today is our two year wedding anniversary.  How has it already been two years?!  In honor of our anniversary, I wanted to reminisce about our special day, tell you about the things that didn't go as planned and maybe even give you a few ideas for your own wedding :) So here is the good, the bad and the details from our special day. The Good... This is one of my favorite shots from the day. My big sis helping me put on my dress just as she has helped me with so many other things in life.  So symbolic :) It was also a happy day for her.  April 24, 2010 was not only our wedding day, but also the day my sister got engaged!  It will always be a special day for both of us for the rest of our lives. Instead of the minister introducing us as Mr. and Mrs. Jon Reutter, Jon's best man and brother did.  Much more appropriate and personal I believe. :) One of my favorite moments of the night was our first dance.

Happy anniversary weekend to me and my hubby! Here's a little video montage of our honeymoon in St. Thomas to the tune of one of my favorite songs at the moment, Woman Like You.  Sweet memories :) Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

DIY Custom Bouquet Wrap

I went to JoAnn Fabrics yesterday to pick up a few last minute things for the upcoming weddings I'm helping decorate. And while I was there, I traveled down some extra aisles that caught my eye and made a few light bulbs go off in my head. Today's idea centers around a bookmark I found on the cross stitch aisle.  Hanging vertically it obviously would function well in its intended job. But after admiring the pretty edge details I thought "what if it was turned on its side and used as a bouquet wrap?" The dimensions and details are perfect, and you could embellish it any way you like- cross stitching, buttons, brooches, stenciling, etc.  Because the lace trim detail is already there, the hard work is done!  All you have to do is make it your own using your initials, your wedding date, a quote, etc. When complete, wrap around bouquet and button or pin in place.  For $3.49-$3.99 (plus you could used a 50% off coupon), this is a very inexpensive way to add a pers

Nursery Update-Vintage Inspired Bedding

Do you notice anything new in the nursery?  If you guessed the bedding, you are correct!  I love so many aspects of this space, but I think the bedding is one of my favorite parts. Here is proof that you can mix and match different bedding pieces and still achieve one cohesive look.  I chose tufted linen bumpers from Restoration Hardware Baby, a chevron patterned sheet from DwellStudio and a vintage-washed percale crib skirt from RHB.  None of them belong in a set together, yet they all work.  Don't be afraid to make your own look. Here is a closeup view of the different textures. The pom pom blanket is another new favorite of mine.  The oversized poms are playful and unexpected, adding another layer of coziness without being overbearing. Aside from the bedding, we also finalized the rug selection.  I can't wait to see it in the space!

A Look Inside Our Office

I have some updated pictures of our office to show you guys.  We got some pictures up on the wall a couple of weeks ago and are slowly building up the gallery.  Here is what we have so far... I love the collected look and can't wait to add some more pieces to the collection. This is the other side of the room.  Do you notice the old ottoman that used to be in our living room?  The couch is one that has been in my family since I was in elementary school.  It's a La-Z Boy that has springs in each cushion.  In 20 years, it has not lost an ounce of its shape.  The jewel tone upholstery was remedied with a $70 2-piece sofa cover from JC Penney.  The curtains, although shorter than I'd like, are Candice Olsen ones I found on sale at Dillard's for $5 over a year ago!  I was glad to finally get them out of their packaging. Here's a closeup of the pattern on the curtains.  Eventually, I'd like to add some extra fabric to the bottom to make them 96 inches, but

Washi tape and wax gift bags. My latest shade, OPI's Red Lights Ahead...Where?  Perfect for my pale and tan friends alike. This song popped up on my ipod the other day.  I'd forgotten how much I love it.  Such a fun song! I love the colors in this kitchen.  So cheerful, don't you think? I will be here, two weeks from today.  Folly Beach in Charleston, SC.  Can't wait! Happy weekend, everyone! Images via  1 , 4 , 5
