The Big News...and Auden's Nursery Reveal

Auden's nursery is finally up for your viewing!  "Where?" you might ask.  Well that is the other big reveal.  I not only had a newborn recently, but I also created another baby, 3A Design Studio .  Actually it's me and two other designers who have teamed up to create an interior design business available to everyone--not just those with thousands of dollars to spend.  Our main focus is on E-Design , but we offer several other services as well.  Me and my girls will also be blogging over there.  Check it out and let me know what you think!  Follow along on our Facebook page or subscribe via E-mail to stay in the design loop of all of our exciting new projects and tips!  And if you have a room we can help you design, please let us know! I'll still be posting on here as well, but for more design content (now you have me and two other gals) check out 3A Design Studio .  We're so excited about our new baby! And now back to my real ba...

Nursery Blues

Man this nursery design has been a doozy.  I've come to the realization that I need to create a line of cute girl bedding this isn't pink, because apparently the limited options out there are no good. I've never been a pink girl.  Even growing up purple, periwinkle and blue were my favorites.  Don't get me wrong, I've found some super cute pink baby outfits for our girl, but having a nursery consumed in pink was not on my agenda.  I had my perfect crib bedding in mind but after an exhaustive and expensive search, I came to the realization that it wasn't going to happen.  I wanted a blue linen bumper with a taupe piping or flange and a taupe linen bedskirt.  Unfortunately, everything I found was out of my price range.  Try as I may, I just can't rationalize spending over $400 on crib bedding.  My bedding didn't even cost that much and there's a whole lot more to it!  Not to mention the fact that Jon would think I was completely insane :) ...

Nursery Update-A New Rug

My long weekend in Charleston was an absolute blast and only the start to my crazy travel schedule in May.  I got back home Monday afternoon and Jon and I will be leaving again tomorrow to attend a wedding in Atlanta this weekend.  This is the first of three weddings I'll be attending this month and the only one I won't be decorating.  It's going to be a crazy (and beautiful) ride! Because of my busy schedule, I'm not sure how often I'll be able to update the blog, but I'll try to give you guys some peeks into the craziness as much as I can. Today I want to share with you another update from the nursery in Dallas I've been working on.  When searching for a rug, I knew I wanted something simple, yet visually interesting.  After a little hunt, the winner became the  Dhurrie Diamond Soho Rug  in taupe and ivory.  The pattern is perfect and the natural tones work wonderfully with the color palette in the room.  Below is the photo of the ...

Neutral Animal Nursery

Is it just me or is everyone having babies right now?  Perhaps I'm just at that age.  Whatever it is, I love it and it makes me excited for when the day comes that Jon and I have our own little ones.  In the mean time, I'll just admire everyone else's new bundles of joy and dream of nurseries. My favorite nurseries are usually ones that don't scream "It's a girl!" or "It's a boy!"  Maybe it's because I'm naturally drawn toward a neutral color palette with my design aesthetic.  Or maybe it's because soft, calming tones remind me of a sweet, sleeping baby.  Whatever the case may be, neutral nurseries make my heart happy. To show you what I mean, here is one of my latest designs.   {click image to enlarge} Starting off, I suggested painting the room Bleeker Beige by Benjamin Moore (you can get it color matched in Olympic Premium for the non-VOC paint route).  I also suggested adding white wainscoting to the bottom...
