Office Spaces

Well hello, friends!  Sorry it's been so long.  Between my new job and getting ready for my trip to New York City, I've had little time to sit down and write.  But on the upside, my new job has given me some major inspiration...and inspiration=blog posts! I've been overwhelmed by the amount of beautiful things at my fingertips lately--from product samples to furniture catalogs to stacks and stacks of fabrics.  The options are endless.  And with abundance should come organization.  Organization is key to creating an efficient and creative work environment as well as a pleasing "show" room for clients.  Success is achieved where style and function meet.  Here are a few successes in my book. Ahh catalog organization with style.  The pops of accessories bring life to the rows and rows of books. For artwork, frame a client thank you note or a preliminary room sketch.  Make it personal, not just a library. Why yes, I'd love to pin beau...

When I think of people who work from home, I think of the beautiful office spaces they can create for themselves.  I often try to imagine what my dream office would entail, and the latest vision is of a crisp, clean space with lots of pretty things to inspire me...a nod to the classic with a twist on the coastal.  Yeah, I think I'd be pretty happy here. A Look Inside Our Office

I have some updated pictures of our office to show you guys.  We got some pictures up on the wall a couple of weeks ago and are slowly building up the gallery.  Here is what we have so far... I love the collected look and can't wait to add some more pieces to the collection. This is the other side of the room.  Do you notice the old ottoman that used to be in our living room?  The couch is one that has been in my family since I was in elementary school.  It's a La-Z Boy that has springs in each cushion.  In 20 years, it has not lost an ounce of its shape.  The jewel tone upholstery was remedied with a $70 2-piece sofa cover from JC Penney.  The curtains, although shorter than I'd like, are Candice Olsen ones I found on sale at Dillard's for $5 over a year ago!  I was glad to finally get them out of their packaging. Here's a closeup of the pattern on the curtains.  Eventually, I'd like to add some extra fabric to the bottom to...

Our Office...In Progress

Jon and I have some visitors arriving on Friday, and we'll need a place for them all to sleep.  So far we haven't had more than two people visit at a time, so our guest room has always sufficed.  We have three bedrooms in our home, but one of those rooms is currently being used as an office space. But this weekend, the office will need to double as a guest room. Unfortunately this space has been the most neglected since we've moved in. It currently acts as our "place it in here if you can't find a place to hang or put it anywhere else" room.  Sounds like a designer dream room, right? Here's a shot of it a few weeks ago...there's pictures that need to be hung, stacks of random papers on the desk, etc.  And now it's even more crowded with our old living room ottoman currently residing in there as well since my new ottoman came in! In other words, we've got some work to do to get it ready for our guests by Friday.  I don't think I...
