House of Hydrangeas

Jon, myself and Remington had a wonderful visit in San Antonio.  We hadn't seen Jon's parents or brother since our wedding, so it was definitely a treat.  Remi was a big hit too :)  We're definitely blessed with loving family and warm and welcome "homes away from home."  We can't wait to go back for another visit in a month. We were also blessed with a beautiful day to travel on our 9-hour journey back home.  I couldn't help but notice the distinct difference in God's creation as we traveled past the rocky ridges of San Antonio, up through the hill country of central Texas and returned to the sweeping plains of Oklahoma.  We saw quite the sunset on the way home, and it reminded me of one of my current song favorites by The Afters. "You've opened my eyes so I can see You all around me...You light up the sky to show me that you are with me."

That's right.  Remington and I will be hitting the road this morning to spend the weekend with friends in Dallas.  Jon will be flying a cross country flight to Florida (I know, it's a tough job) so he won't be joining us.  So that means this will be me and Remi's first official road trip by ourselves. I'm sure he'll be a great co-pilot :)   It will be a nice, long weekend with a fun schedule of events.   -Shopping -Organizing a friend's closet (I LOVE organizing!...in case you couldn't tell from my last post) -Craft time with the girls -Race for the Cure 5k  -Wine/football night -Happy hour with old friends -And perhaps a surprise visit to see some people I haven't seen in quite awhile I'm looking forward to it all! I've made this trip many, many times over the years since Jon and I first started dating.  So to help the trip be a little more enjoyable, I have a few things I always like to do.  Many of which you can apply to your own road ...

I had a great trip back home to Alabama this past weekend.  The 11.5 hour drive each way was well worth it.  I know that no matter where Jon and I might find ourselves living in the years to come, Alabama will always hold a special place in my heart.  There's nothing like traveling down familiar roads and conjuring up memories from days past in my hometown.  The same can be said for Tuscaloosa, AL, where I spent my 4 years of college.   I was fortunate enough to be able to make a trip back this past weekend for a monumental game - Alabama vs. Penn State, a match that hasn't occurred between the two teams in 20 years.  As usual, the town was full of energy, spirited fans and lots of crimson.  What was unusual was the attitude of our opponents.   I have to give Penn State major kudos for having the nicest, most fun fans I have ever seen.  There's nothing that warms my heart more than seeing people go out of their way to be nice to each other, ...
