New Coffee Table

After more than a year of debate, I've finally decided on and ordered us a new coffee table! As mentioned here , there were several styles I was considering.  However, in the end the tufted ottoman came out on top.  Not only was it versatile, so it can be used for years to come, but it also will be good for when we have kiddos down the road.  I can't tell you how many people I know who have had to either remove their coffee tables for the safety of their kids' noggins or have had to add those tacky corner protectors.  I did not want to invest in a new piece only to have to stow it away down the road.  So this seemed to be the perfect solution.  And thanks to my Joss & Main membership, it turned out to be the perfect price too. I was all set to order a tufted ottoman from Ballard Designs.  I had already received a swatch sample of the fabric I selected and everything.  But a few days later, I got a notification from Joss & Main of a sal...

The One That Got Away

I mentioned a few weeks back that I was hoping to return from our trip to Dallas on Memorial Day weekend with a new piece of furniture.  As you may have guessed from my lack of posting on said piece of furniture, the deal didn't go down. While doing my usual browsing on Craigslist, I came upon a beautiful leather ottoman that I thought would be perfect as our new coffee table.  You all know I've been searching and analyzing over finding a new coffee table for some time now.  Well when I saw this one, I thought I had found my answer!  And with a price tag of just $100 (the cheapest I'd found prior was $300), it was a gift from above! I thought the color and nailhead trim were just what the coffee table doctor ordered.  Unfortunately, the deals you can find on Craigslist are often counteracted by the difficulty of communicating with the seller.  The problem in this case was the seller's slow response to all of my inquiries.  He said I would be able to...

Coffee Table Dilemma

I am many things, but one of them is not decisive.  I admit I have gotten better over the years, but I still have a long way to go.  For some reason, I am really good about answering someone else's questions, but when it comes to decisions in my own, I'm often torn between options.  Right now those options involve a new coffee table. I've been using a faux letter ottoman as my coffee table for the last 4 years.  I got it right before I moved to Dallas, and it worked great in my little studio, but now we need something a little more substantial. I've been debating for awhile on what I want in a coffee table and my ideas are pretty wide in range.  The one thing I have ruled out is getting a glass table.  I think they are beautiful, but often times not the most functional or realistic-especially if we plan on having children in the next few years.   So that leaves me with these three options: wood, acrylic and fabric (on a larger, tufted ottoman). ...
