Five Things Friday - Part 2

It appears I've been slacking on the Five Things Friday posts as of late.  Well maybe slacking is going a little nice on myself.  Has it really been since October since I last wrote one?!  Tisk. Tisk.  Let's see if I can get it together today.  Here's the better late than never part 2... 1. Death by Oreo Cupcakes.  I originally planned to make these before Jon was scheduled to be back home tomorrow.  But then I decided it would be a better idea to save them for next week.  That way if we have any leftovers, I can just bring them home with me to Alabama when I visit next weekend instead of us gorging on them here all by ourselves... Because I have a feeling I'm going to want to every. single. one of them. 2.  I can't wait to host my first dinner party at our new home.  And looking at images like this one from a fun wine party isn't helping.  Tulips and twin in wine vases...yes, please. 3.  Speaking of parties, look ...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to us!  Jon and I decided to do a joint gift this year and treat ourselves to another set of our most favorite sheets EVER.  Sense of Touch-Air sheets are the most comfortable  sheets I've ever laid on in my life.  They weren't kidding when they called them Air.  They are so light and soft!  Seriously.  You should get some.   We first found these when we were registered for our wedding and were lucky enough to receive a set from Jon's aunt and uncle.  They had given us a white set, so this time we ordered the silver ones, which are really a beautiful gray color (as shown in the picture below).  The color contrasts wonderfully with our white duvet cover too.  Needless to say, we wasted no time in getting these bad boys on our bed.    This better shows the color. And this better shows the sheen :) If you're wondering where you can get some of these gems for yourself, we got our's from Bed ...

First House Party

Well I guess you can't really call it a party, but last night was the first gathering of friends at our house.  It was a fun time, and everyone enjoyed themselves, our home and the food.   I've never prided myself in being the best cook.  But I can follow directions (usually) and if the ingredient list isn't a mile long, I'm set.  Luckily the menu for last night wasn't too extensive.  However, it was delicious.   I'm hoping for a new camera for Christmas, but until then, you'll have to make due with our crazy camera for now (I call it crazy because the flash sometimes go off and sometimes doesn't, and the colors are usually slightly off.  Grrr).   Cupcakes are a necessity at every party, right?  I made chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese icing (thank you Betty Crocker and Wilton cake decorating set for making them look and taste yummy).  You can't really tell in the photo, but the cupcake liners are orange and black and have little g...
