House of Hydrangeas

Well, we finally have a piece of furniture in the nursery.  Hooray!  Yesterday, my amazing Nurseryworks Empire Rocker showed up (it wasn't supposed to ship until mid September).  What a nice surprise!  I was lucky enough to have my friend Jessica over here to help me put it together and move it into the nursery and I love love love it! I knew I wanted something a little different when it came to a rocker/glider selection and the lines on this one totally fit the bill.  Modern with a traditional bent--just my style. I purchased the diamond poof (on sale!) at Target at the beginning of the summer and the herringbone throw is also a previous purchase that I've been waiting to showcase.  Obviously, there's still a lot more to do (see the pink walls?), but just having this piece in the room now makes me feel like there's been some progress!  

I heard a snippet of a Christmas song on a talk show yesterdy morning and immediately started singing along.  And then blurted out excitedly to Jon, "Honey!  We're going to have a baby with us at Christmas!"  It's in little, weird moments like that when the reality hits me.  On Tuesday I celebrated my last birthday in my twenties and my last birthday without baby.  Oh how different a year from now will be! We got to hear the baby's heartbeat a couple of weeks ago, and it was so surreal.  When I look at my stomach, all I think I see is a bloated belly.  At 16 weeks, I'm still in my regular clothes (which I'm not complaining about), and I'm back to my originial start weight from March!  See you later, nausea!  With the nausea at bay, and my waist not screaming "there's a baby in here!" it is at times hard to believe that a baby is growing inside of me. Today, I'm so happy to finally share with you guys the nursery board I've been working on the last couple of weeks.  When Aimee and Joe first contacted me a few weeks ago to see if I could help them put together a nursery design for their first baby, due in July, I was more than thrilled.  Lucky for me, they already had great taste and some ideas for a jumping off point.  When they informed me that they really liked my style, shown in my other design boards , I knew we'd make a great team.  They were very active in the whole design process, which made my job much easier. The first thing I did was come up with a layout for the room.  The room being used for their nursery was a large size for their 1960's house at 18'5" x 11'5".  Therefore, proper furniture placement was a big issue.  Aimee and Joe didn't want the room to look too barren with just a chair and crib and needed help finding the right pieces to fill the space.  After some brainstormin...
