Birmingham Designer Home-Lindsey Bond

While flipping through my October issue of House Beautiful, I stumbled across a story featuring a beautiful cottage.  A cottage whose every room made me say, "I would love that in my home!"  Needless to say, the designer's style was right up my alley.  Only a few minutes later did I discover that the designer was also a fellow Alabamian, hailing from Birmingham.  No wonder we see eye to eye on decor.  So without further ado, here are some pictures of Lindsey Bond's beautiful 1950's cottage she's transformed with a modern twist.

First off, we have the living room.  I love her photo collage with mix matched frames, the clean simple lines and the soft, neutral color palette.

Next up is the kitchen.  Again, it is so simple and elegant.  And the carrera marble is to die for.  I will have carrera in my dream kitchen one day.  Until then I'll just drool over everyone else's.  And artwork on the kitchen counters...who says it's not allowed?  I love it.


Bond continues to carry the neutral theme into her dining room, but also adds a pop of color on the wall.  I for one, am a big fan of this color.  Now I just need to find a wall in my own home to paint in this beautiful blue.


I seriously think Bond got into my head.  Check out her desk area in her bedroom.  Antiqued mirrors, Louis Ghost Chair, nail trim cream desk...be still, my beating heart.



And on the other side of the room is another antiqued mirror, simple matted artwork and bedding that seems reminiscent of my own.  Have I mentioned I really like her style?


And last but not least, her office.  This is the one room in which I would want to change something.  I would do without the paper lantern light fixture and replace it with a crystal chandelier chandelier - furthering the idea of traditional elegance versus modernism. And again, I love the simple black and white artwork in this room and am a huge fan of hanging prints in front of bookcases.  Well done, Lindsey, well done.

    Well done indeed. My favorite is the kitchen as we are finally renovating ours as it is the last project in our farmhouse. Many thanks for sharing the inspiration

Vintage Western Couples Shower

Last week I helped host a couples shower for our friends Colin and Maranda who are getting married in January. The overall idea was to create a vintage, western feel perfect for fall.  Maranda initially wanted to have an autumn wedding but the timeline wasn't right, so this was our slight nod to a festive, fall soiree.  Along with my own ideas, I also took to Pinterest (my new drug) and party sites like Hostess with the Mostess to get inspiration.  The largest inspiration was from this party on hwtm.com.  It had so many cute ideas that I had to steal borrow a few of them and add my own little twist to them.  The final outcome led to this: Here's a front view (everything wasn't quite out yet, but I wanted to show you this angle). Up Up And Away- Take Two (And Three)

We took our second family flight this past June.  We took the earliest flight out so we had to wake up at 4:00am to get everything ready.  I had all of the girls' stuff ready and laid out so we only woke them five minutes before we left at 5:00 am.  Rollins is our late sleeper so I thought she would for sure fall back asleep in the car on the way to the airport.  Nope.  Auden, who is typically my early riser (with the sunrise), fell asleep instead.  I guess Rollins knew something was up and was too excited to miss anything.  She didn't fall asleep until we were 10 minutes from our friends' house in Dallas.  Meanwhile, Auden fell asleep again on the plane.  Proof that you can never predict what toddlers will do during travel days.   Auden loved getting to use her new suitcase and travel backpack (that daddy so graciously attached to his luggage for her).  We got quite a few comments from those ...
