Thrift Store Finds

I had another successful trip to the thrift store on Tuesday.  Oh how I love that place.  I always leave with multiple "new" items for next to nothing, which means I get to shop (who doesn't love to shop?) and not feel guilty about spending a ton of money.  It's a win-win situation.  I love making Jon play "name that price" with my newly purchased items.  He always guesses WAY over what I actually spent, and I just grin ear to ear as I tell him how much it really cost.  What can I say?  I'm a girl who loves a good deal.  But I digress...Here's the breakdown of what I got on my last trip:

Now for the items and their intended purposes...
A beautiful hardback coffee table book.  Perfect for my history loving hubby. Only $1.98.

 And again, I'm in love the embossed emblem.

This woven rattan box needs a little lovin' (you can see where there was previously a ribbon around the seam but now only the glue remains).  But it's nothing that a little ribbon or rope can't fix.  It still had the original price tag on the bottom.  It was originally $21.00, and I got it for $.79!

These boxes are perfect for hiding things you use often but don't want in sight.

 I've mentioned in other entries how I have a newfound love for brass.  So naturally, I couldn't resist these candlesticks.  So charming.

I haven't decided where I want to put them yet, but I love them grouped together.

Remi wanted to snuggle while I was down on the floor taking pictures.  Don't you just love that sweet face?

 I've been eyeing these glass decanters in stores for awhile now so when I saw this one for $1.99, I snatched it up.  These are great for holding water (on your nightstand) or for orange juice at the breakfast table.

I probably need another vase like I need a whole in my head, but I loved the shape of this one (only $.89) and can't wait to get some flowers in it!

I thought these sifting baskets would make a great statement over a fire place or in a space with high ceilings--neither of which we have now.   But I got them anyway because they were only $.99 each, and we should be moving in the next 6 months or so.  I'm hoping to be able to use them in our new home.  I found one just like it for sale on eBay for $28.00!  Excuse Remi's bottom-he was just trying to give you a perspective on their size :)

They are actually the same size, but you can't tell because of the angle I took the shot.

Perhaps if I find some more, I could also use them to make a statement like this (image via Apartment Therapy).

 This basket was $1.59, and I thought it'd be great holding firewood or throws in the living room.

 Remington wanted to give you a size comparison on this one too.  As you can see, it's huge!

And last, but not least I got these two wooden lamps.  

I love their shape and the cutout ring details on the bottom of the base.  I plan on painting the bases a solid color (not sure what color yet) and using them on a console table behind the couch.  Again, these may not be in use until we move, but I couldn't pass up the deal.      

 I'm even in love their cute little finials.

Since I want to keep the current linen lamps shades, the whole project will cost about $33 ($15 for each lamp and $3 for a can of spray paint). There's no way I could find another set of huge lamps like this anywhere else for $33!  

P.S.  Happy 10 month anniversary to me and my hubby!
