I love before and after pictures because they show you the potential in things that most people wouldn't think had a prayer. There's something powerful about transforming a room or house from a dark and ugly space into a beautiful home. The home I'm about to show you is one of the best examples of doing this that I've seen in a long time. This couple, from looked past paneling, wall paper, crimson carpet and really dated fixtures and saw the true bones of the house. They enhanced the good things and got rid of the bad, making the space just what they wanted. This house also goes to show that a little bit of paint can go a long way in transforming a space. This chandelier is beautiful. It looks very expensive, but they found it on overstock.com for a good deal. Don't forget to check out the O the next time you're looking for a new piece.
Hallway 1:
Paneling is usually one of the biggest eyesores in older homes, but it doesn't have to be. Paneling on the ceiling can be a wonderful thing. It adds texture and charm to the room and draws the eye up, making the room look larger than it really is.
Kitchen:
The next time you think you can't design a room because you have no creativity, think again. You don't have to go to school for years to design a beautiful room. This couple loved the kitchen in Something's Gotta Give and used that as the inspiration for the look they wanted. The design was already done for them, all they had to do was apply it.

This is one of my favorite in the house. Because all it took was paint, new floors and new sconces and viola! So charming and simple!
Bathroom shot 1:
The couple decided to keep the navy tiles to save on expenses. But oh how different they look in the room when it's painted white instead of cranberry. Talk about a nautical look for cheap!
Who doesn't love a clawfoot tub? These are usually pretty expensive, but because it was already in this was an old house, there was no purchase necessary. Many people run from older properties because they see all the negatives in them, but many have features that are hard to come by today without spending a little money. Look for things like sconce outlets (no wiring needed), clawfoot tubs, and architectural details when look at old homes. Many times you'll find the good far out ways the bad.
Living Room shot 1:
People are often afraid to paint over the brick in their homes because they feel like they're ruining something. I say, go for it. It can drastically transform a space from dated to modern and sleek. Out with the old; in with the new!
